Heavy Impact - Queensbury boxing April 5th

Queensberry Promotions announced 'Heavy Impact', will launch on Saturday, April 5, 2025, with their new broadcaster Dazn. This is an all-heavyweight event at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester. The headline fight is a clash between Dillian Whyte and Joe Joyce that has been a long time in the making! This London feud will be settled in Manchester when they both put it all on the line and this could be make or break for either fighter...

Dillian Whyte (31-3,21 KOs) is from Brixton and put himself on the heavyweight stage when he took on former amateur rival Anthony Joshua for the British and Commonwealth titles in 2015. He defeated Derek Chisora in December 2016. He's had notable wins over Robert Helenius and former world champions Lucas Browne and Joseph Parker. He beat Derek Chisora once again by a devastating knockout in their rematch.

Whyte claimed the WBC Interim World title in July 2019 by beating Oscar Rivas. He then lost and won back his Interim champion status against Alexander Povetkin, which both fights have been wiped from the record after Alexander Povetkin failed back-dated drug tests. Whyte then got a shot at a full world title in April 2022 against Tyson Fury at Wembley Stadium, where Whyte lost in the sixth round.

Joe Joyce (16-3,15 KOs) needs to restore himself to the heavyweight scene due to losing against Derek Chisora in July 2024. Plus a double defeat to the Chinese contender Zhilei Zhang, where Joyce lost his status as WBO Interim world champion as well. Before his Zhang losses, Joyce was considered a big force in the heavyweight division. Joyce took home title belts Including British, Commonwealth, European, WBC Silver and WBO International, following his stoppage win over the current IBF world champion Daniel Dubois in 2020.

Joyce has had fewer pro fights and a much more highly decorated amateur career than Whyte, they both have the same amount of pro losses, but at Hy-Lyfe we are backing Joyce to get back to his winning ways, as we think it means more to him, he will be well up for the challenge/comeback and we do not think Whyte can deal with his relentless pressure. But it all comes down to Joyce's training camp and 'tune-up' fight on March 1st.

Other fights on the card we will give our predictions closer to the date are:

Lawrence Okolie vs. Richard Riakporhe:

Both fighters are moving up from cruiserweight to heavyweight and they already had the first round back in a cinema!

David Adeleye vs. Jeamie TKV:

A domestic heavyweight showdown between 2 friends and former sparring partners, but they will show up on the night as foes.

Delicious Orie:

The 2024 British Olympian will make his pro debut and his opponent is yet to be announced.
